
Simmonds named to USL First Division Team of the Week

Virginia Beach, VA- The United Soccer Leagues First and Second Division Teams of the Week were announced Monday. Greg Simmonds was listed as part of the USL First Division Team of the Week for the 9th week of the season.
Greg Simmonds, forward, joined the Virginia Beach Mariners this season. Simmonds was the leading scorer for Charleston Battery for both the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He was named USL-1 Rookie of the Year in 1999 and Team MVP in 2000 while playing for the Hershey Wildcats. Simmonds was the USL First Division Player of the Week twice in 2002 when he played for the Rochester Raging Rhinos. This season he has helped lead the Mariners to a 2-1 win at Minnesota.
