Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard announced today that they have been re-assigned another player by the af2 league office: FB/LB Marcus Green, who returns to the Blizzard for his second straight season.

Green (6-3, 250 Youngstown State), who earned the nickname "Big O" in grade school for his ability to always get open on the basketball court, began his Arena Football career in 2003 as a member of the Rochester Brigade. He joined the Blizzard last season and looks forward to the opportunity to play in Titletown once again.

"I'm excited about coming back to Green Bay," said Green. "I'm looking forward to the New Year and the opportunity. I originally never thought I'd wind up in Wisconsin. I spent a lot of time down in Mississippi and in Ohio, so that's pretty far from home for me. But I love all the football tradition in Green Bay. I finally got to see what the ‘Cheeseheads' were all about."

Green also liked the idea of playing for new Head Coach Bob Landsee. "I got to meet Coach Landsee at a Firebirds game down in Indianapolis last year, and I liked his style and thought I'd like to play for him. He's a great motivator, and I feel like I have an opportunity to take a leadership role this year, and to help set the bar high for everyone's personal goals and as a team.

"My motto for the New Year is ‘Come Alive In '05,' and with the new coach and the new players and me coming back, the Blizzard is going to Come Alive In '05 for sure."

Offensive coordinator Rod Miller is just as glad to have Green back as Green is to be back. "Marcus was a player that I thought toward the end of the season was a guy that really showed a marked improvement once he adjusted to our offensive system," said Miller. "Having him from the beginning of the season this year will only enhance his value to our offense. He is a definite threat with the ball in his hands, either running or catching it out of the backfield."

The Blizzard were also assigned WR/DB Dreifus Kent (6-3, 197 Albany State) by the af2 league office. Kent joins the Blizzard for his first season in Arena Football.
