Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (30-18, 62-56) dropped a 3-2 game to the Charlotte Stone Crabs (18-28, 63-53) at McKechnie Field on Saturday night. Bradenton remains three games behind the Palm Beach Cardinals in the South Division 2nd Half standings.
Charlotte plated a run in the second inning to open the scoring. Yoel Araujo doubled off RHP Clay Holmes (L, 0-2) and scored on a base hit by Justin Williams. Araujo barely beat CF Jeff Roy's throw to the plate.
Charlotte extended the lead to 3-0 an inning later. Maxx Tissenbaum grounded to second base with the bases loaded and one out. Mike Marjama's takeout slide into SS Chris Diaz caused Diaz to lose control of the ball as he transferred from the glove to his throwing hand. Two runs scored on the play.
DH Jin-De Jhang doubled home a run in the bottom of the third and 3B Wyatt Mathisen belted a solo home run in the eighth to produce Bradenton's two runs. LHP Andy Otamendi and RHP Isaac Sanchez combined for 5 1/3 hitless innings of relief for the Marauders.
