Bradenton Marauders News Release
JUPITER, Fla. - In the middle game of a three game series between the Bradenton Marauders and the Jupiter Hammerheads, the road side took their second consecutive game to secure the series victory on Saturday afternoon in a special matinee contest.
After breaking a franchise record ten game losing streak with a 7-0 shutout win in the first game of the set, RHP Mike Wallace turned in a solid outing on the hill in the second game to extend his lead atop the Marauders wins leaderboard with his fifth of the season. Wallace spun six innings and allowed a single run on eight hits while striking out five, all coming consecutively for the last two outs of the second and all three in the third. LHP Blake Weiman tossed 1.1 innings scoreless thanks to RHP Angel German, who came in with one out and the bases loaded in the home half of the eighth and worked a double play before finishing off his third save in four tries on the season.
Offensively, Raul Siri kept up his hot stretch at the plate with his first Marauders home run, a two run shot in the second inning with John Bormann on first to open up the scoring. The only other Bradenton run came in the top of the sixth. Bret Pope led off the frame with the final of his three hits on the afternoon and was driven on when Mitchell Tolman singled up the middle to score Pope from second base to make the score at that point 3-1. Even with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed by German, Albert Baur retired the final out of the game on an infield pop-up with the tying and game winning runs on base for the Hammerheads.
The Marauders finish their final three game series of the year on Florida's Treasure Coast against the Hammerheads in a 1 pm series finale on Sunday, with RHP Evan Piechota starting for Bradenton against a pitcher yet to be named for the home side.
