TODAY'S GAME: Game two of a three-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (DET) from Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium (0-1)...Game six of a seven-game road trip against the St. Lucie Mets and Flying Tigers (2-3)...Florida is coming off a four-game series split against St. Lucie at First Data Field, taking the opener and finale...Third of four series (13 games) between Florida and Lakeland in 2018, with Florida trailing the series 3-5...The Fire Frogs split a four-game set in Lakeland from April 26-29.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER: 20-year-old Huascar Ynoa makes his fourth start at the High-A level (22nd this season) in the middle match of the three-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Saturday night...The native of the Dominican Republic was not ranked in the Atlanta Braves' top-30 prospect list at the beginning of the season (MLB.com), but is currently ranked 23rd...The 6-foot-2 hurler earned his first win with Florida by tossing six shutout innings against the St. Lucie Mets at First Data Field on Aug. 13...The right-hander allowed just one hit, walked two and struck out seven on 85 pitches (53 strikes)...Saturdaywill be Ynoa's first career start against the Flying Tigers.
JOHNSTONE'S QUALITY OUTING NOT ENOUGH IN LOSS TO LAKELAND: The Florida Fire Frogs opened a three-game weekend set against the Lakeland Flying Tigers with a 5-1 loss on Friday night at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. The defeat dropped Florida's elimination number to just one with 15 games remaining in the second half.
Connor Johnstone allowed three runs over seven frames for his first quality start at the High-A level, but the offense provided just one run of support after collecting three consecutive hits to start the night against Matt Manning.
PRIME NINE: With another two-hit performance, Riley Delgado extended his on-base streak to nine game on Friday night...The Miami native is batting .444 (16-for-26) since Aug. 9, with five multi-hit games sprinkled in.
JUMPING IN THE SHOW: Former Florida starter Touki Toussaint made his big league debut with the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon against the Miami Marlins at SunTrust Park, earning the win with one runs allowed on two hits, two walks and four strikeouts in game one of the twin bill...The Braves seventh-ranked prospect (MLB.com) became the sixth Fire Frog to make it to the show, joining LHP A.J. Minter, LHP Luiz Gohara, LHP Adam McCreery, RHP Chad Sobotka and OF Ronald Acuna...The 22-year-old holds the Fire Frogs record for most strikeouts in a season, posting 123 in 2017.
BUILDING THE PIPELINE: MLB Pipeline revealed its updated prospect rankings, and nine Atlanta Braves farmhands cracked the top-100...Of the nine, seven either currenlty played, or have previously played for the Fire Frogs: Kyle Wright (24), Ian Anderson (38), Austin Riley (43), Cristian Pache (57), Luiz Gohara (61), Touki Toussaint (76), and Drew Waters (98).
