Bradenton Marauders News Release
Dunedin, Fla. - The Marauders (11-5) took to the road for the first time in over a week when they headed to Dunedin on Tuesday evening to start a six-game series with the Blue Jays (7-9). Fans of high-powered offense were likely disappointed as the two teams combined for just four hits in the first eight innings of the contest. However, it would only take one hit off the bat of Enmaneul Terrero in the top of the ninth inning for the Baby Buccos to steal a 3-1 comeback win.
Dominic Perachi was handed the starting duties for Bradenton; the lefty tossed 4.1 innings, striking out five while surrendering no earned runs. The Jays gave the ball to Rafael Ohashi to make his third start of the year; the righty set down the first 11 Marauders he faced in order and finished his night after five innings surrendering a hit and striking out five.
Dunedin would take the lead in the home half of the seventh when they manufactured a run after a leadoff double thanks to a sacrifice bunt and routine sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Blue Jays with two innings to go.
The Marauders came to the plate in the ninth down to their final three outs, still behind 1-0. Jauri Custodio struck out to begin the frame, and the Marauder's hopes relied on the 1-2-3 spots in their batting order. Jesus Castillo smacked a single to left to give Bradenton just their third hit of the game. Deivis Nadal reached after getting hit by a pitch and pushed the tying run in the form of Castillo into scoring position.
The game-defining moment came on a 2-2 pitch to Enmanuel Terrero. The Marauders outfielder drove a hung slider deep to left and launched it just over the wall to clear the bases and give Bradenton a 3-1 lead.
Mike Walsh collected his second save of the year to secure the 3-1 victory after setting down the Blue Jays in order.
The Marauders and Blue Jays square off in game two tomorrow at TD Ballpark; the first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
