Bradenton Marauders News Release

Lakeland, FL - The Marauders (5-4) went into Sunday's series finale at Lakeland needing a win to claim three straight victories, clinch the series and move the team's record to above .500 for the first time since opening night.

The Flying Tigers would claim an early lead in the matinee affair going up 3-0 after the first inning.

The Marauders would swiftly reply with a three-spot in the top of the second inning.

JP Massey started the ballgame for the Marauders and would throw a convincing 3.2 innings, striking out six in the outing.

Both team's offenses were silent in innings 3-6, with Brad Case throwing two impressive frames in the fifth and sixth innings in his final rehab appearance with the Marauders. The righty struck out a pair and walked none on his way to claiming the win.

The seventh inning proved pivotal in the contest's outcome; the Marauders would hang three runs on the board thanks to RBI knocks from Shalin Polanco, Tres Gonzalez, and Javier Rivas. Bradenton added another in the ninth before Mike Walsh finished off the Tigers to seal the 7-3 win.

It was a series highlighted by the high-powered offense of Bradenton. The team hit for a combined .292 average in six games and scored 38 runs across the road stand.

The Marauders return home to LECOM Park on Tuesday to take on the FSL East Division-leading Daytona Beach Tortugas. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
