Bradenton Marauders News Release
Tampa, Fla. - The Marauders (27-24) and the Tarpons (21-30) in the final game of their six-game set at Steinbrenner Field on Sunday afternoon. Bradenton jumped out to an early lead and would never relinquish control of the game, dominating from start to finish in all areas of the game on the way to a 6-2 win.
The top of the first inning saw Jack Brannigan drive a ball deep down the left field long that cleared the wall easily for a solo home run, Brannigan's first of the season, to give the Marauders an early 1-0 lead.
The Marauders added another run in the second; Deivis Nadal led off the inning with a double down the right-field line. Nadal advanced to third on a passed ball before Jesus Castillo brought him in to score when he reached on an error to mark the Young Buc's advantage at 2-0 after a pair of innings played.
Tampa halved the Marauder's lead when they added a run off a solo home run in the bottom of the third. The Marauders responded in the fourth inning when they rallied with two outs, pushing across three runs highlighted by Shalin Polanco's eighth home run of the year, extending Bradenton's lead to 4-1.
The Tarpons plated their second and final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Dominic Perachi started for Bradenton and allowed the pair of runs off five hits while striking out seven Tampa hitters.
Tyler Chatwood, Luis Peralta, and Ryan Harbin combined to throw four perfect innings to close out the game; Tampa did not hit a ball out of the infield in those innings.
After a Polanco sacrifice fly pegged the score a 6-2, Harbin slammed the door in less than ten pitches in the bottom of the ninth to seal the win and the series split.
The Marauders will return home to LECOM Park on Tuesday night, taking on Dunedin.
