Niagara IceDogs News Release

Niagara IceDogs head coach and general manager Marty Williamson announced today that the Ryan Mantha has committed to the IceDogs, signing a standard player's agreement with the team.

The 6'4, 224 pound defenceman split last season between the Sioux City Musketeers and the Indiana Ice of the USHL. He put up 15 points in 53 games, including nine with the Indiana Ice, to help his team hoist the Clark Cup as USHL champions.

Mantha capped off a great season at the NHL Entry Draft where he was selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round. The IceDogs acquired Mantha from the Soo Greyhounds on June 2nd, in exchange for a conditional second-round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection Draft and a seventh round pick in 2017.

The IceDogs now have three defencemen who have been drafted in to the NHL on the roster, with Mantha joining Aaron Haydon and Blake Siebenaler.

The IceDogs would like to welcome Ryan to the organization and we look forward to seeing him in training camp in a couple of weeks!
