DULUTH, Minn. - The Mankato MoonDogs were defeated by the Duluth Huskies, 14-4, during a Northwoods League baseball game, Thursday night at Wade Stadium.

The MoonDogs, now 22-21 overall in 2022, own a 3-6 second-half record following the loss, while the Huskies, now 22-20, improved to 3-6 as well in the second-half standings.

The Huskies piled runs on early, scoring three runs in the first, a pair in the second and five more on in the third, to take a 10-0 lead three innings into Thursday's contest at Wade Stadium.

Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon) walked in John Newman Jr. (Santa Barbara) for the MoonDogs' first run of the ballgame during the top of the fourth inning. After four frames, Mankato trailed Duluth, 10-1.

The MoonDogs fell behind one more run deficit-wise when Duluth plated three more runs in the bottom half of the fifth and responded with only two of their own in the top half of the sixth. After six innings at Wade Stadium, the Huskies led the MoonDogs, 13-3.

After Duluth tacked on one more run in the bottom of the eighth, Mankato responded again with a rally of its own for a run. However, that was all the MoonDogs could manage and the ballgame ended with the Huskies coming out on top by a final score of 14-4.

Miles Garrett (Vanderbilt) came down with the loss to fall to 0-1 on the summer after dishing out 10 runs in two and a third innings on the hill.

The MoonDogs and Huskies rematch on Friday at 6:35 p.m. to conclude the road trip at Wade Stadium in Duluth.
