La Crosse Loggers News Release

The La Crosse Loggers defeated the St. Cloud Rox yesterday in a competitive contest, splitting the 2-game series.

After being down for most of the game and struggling to hit Joseph Brandon (Georgia State), the Loggers tied the game at 2 in the 6th, coming on an RBI double by Coby Morales (Washington). He then came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Loggers proceeded to capture the lead by scoring 2 more runs in the 8th, coming on a clutch 2-RBI double by Xavier Casserilla (Wichita State).

Carson Hornung then drove in an insurance run during the final inning, extending his hitting streak to a colossal 25 games.

Grady Gorgen (Troy) appeared pitched in relief, shutting the door out of the bullpen by tossing a scoreless 9th frame. Gorgen earned his 1st save while lowering his ERA to a minuscule 1.29 on the summer. Sam Mettert (Wabash Valley CC) got the win.

The Loggers will return to La Crosse tomorrow and embark on a 4-game home stand against the Bismarck Larks. At Copeland Park, it will be "Baseball Card Strip Giveaway" presented by Badger Breaks. The first pitch is slated for 6:35pm CT.
