MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees knocked Miracle starter Madison Boer out of the game in the fourth inning en route to a 7-2 victory over Fort Myers on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium.
Boer (0-4) gave up two runs in the first inning, then four in the third inning including a three-run homer by Miguel Velasquez.
Starting the fourth, Boer retired Nick Shaw and Reggie Keen, but then surrendered a double to T.J. Mittelstaedt and walked Cody Hawn. Shawn Zarraga followed with his third RBI single of the evening to oust Boer and give the Manatees a 7-0 lead.
Fort Myers plated a run in the fifth on a defensive miscue by Velasquez in left field. After leading off the inning with his second double, Andy Leer took third on a base hit by Michael Gonzales. When Velasquez over ran bloop hit, Leer scored to put the Miracle on the board.
The only other run for the Miracle came on a solo homerun from Daniel Ortiz. His first since being called up to Fort Myers on April 30, Ortiz lifted a 1-0 pitch from Brevard County reliever Sean Garmin over the fence in right.
Manatees starter Brandon Williamson picked up his first win of the season. Williamson (1-2) went five innings, giving up just one run and striking out five.
The Miracle (16-26) wrap up the four-game series versus Brevard County (16-25) on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
