Man does not fly in the house of Modibo

Cape Cod Frenzy News Release

Orleans, Massachusetts: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) announces the signing of 6'10 center Modibo Diarra. Having lost projected 6'9 starting center Marcel Momplaisir to an overseas contract prior to the first game, the Frenzy entered the regular season with just one center and one player over 6'7 (Ifesinachi Anosike). The Frenzy posted a 5-4 record in their first nine games despite their lack of size, by utilizing an up tempo lineup that featured more quickness and agility than size. But at times their lack of height was evident, such as against Montreal when centers 7'2 Pascal Fleury and 6'11 Uche Okafor scored too easily under the basket, and against the Strong Island Sound when their 6'7 260lb star Tommie "Gunnzz" Eddie scored 35 points. Diarra looks to shore up the lack of depth on the front line as he patrols the interior.

"Dibo" as he is known to his teammates and friends, was a star center at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1998-2000, and also played for the famed BABC AAU team. Collegiately, he played four years for John Calipari at the University of Memphis in the Conference USA. This past summer, Diarra was a centerpiece of the Cape Cod Frenzy's championship team in the Boston Premier Pro Exposure Summer League at the Mass Arts College. He was born in Mali, Africa and came to Massachusetts at the age of 15 to play basketball.

Modibo looks to be in uniform as the Frenzy face the first place Strong Island Sound this Sunday at 4:05 PM at Barnstable High School. Special pricing IS in effect! Tickets are just $10 for adults, $8 for students, and just $4 for kids under 12. You can always buy Frenzy tickets online at www.capecodfrenzy.com via E-Ticket or at the game. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
