Colorado Mammoth News Release

The National Lacrosse League announced today that Colorado Mammoth goaltender Chris Levis has been named the league's Week #15 Defensive Player of the Week. Levis tallied 40 saves in the Mammoth's 11-7 playoff-clinching victory on Friday night against the NLL regular-season champion Calgary Roughnecks.

"Quite honestly, Chris should be the [league's] Player of the Month," said Mammoth President and General Manager Steve Govett. "He's had an amazing month and, in every game, he has been outstanding. Chris is a big reason we made the playoffs and we look forward to him helping us make a good run [in the postseason]."

In five games this month, the nine-year veteran has held opponents to seven goals or fewer three times, dropping his goals-against-average (GAA) for the season to 9.82, a career-best. Levis has also recorded an .850 save-percentage or better in each of those three games. An All-Star for the first time this season, the Windsor, Ontario native's GAA is best in the West.

"I am thrilled for Chris," said Mammoth Head Coach Bob Hamley. "He's had a great year and honestly helped us clinch a playoff spot on Friday night. This is well deserved and I am very happy for him."

The award marks the first of the season for the netminder. Mammoth forward John Grant Jr. was named the league's Overall Player of the Week two weeks ago.

Colorado finishes out the regular-season in Minnesota this Saturday, April 23 at 6:30pm MDT. The Mammoth will then travel to Calgary to take on the Roughnecks in the West Division Semifinals next Saturday, April 30.
