Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth announced on Wednesday that it has re-signed Gavin Prout, the team's top playmaker.

The Mammoth has also signed power-play threat John Wilson and Vancouver Ravens free agent Chris Prat.

Prout, who racked up 154 points in two seasons with the New York Saints before signing with Colorado prior to last season, led the Mammoth and was second in the National Lacrosse League with 57 assists. He set career highs in goals (34), assists (57) and points (91) and ranked second in scoring on the team last year behind Gary Gait (93 points).

"Gavin had an excellent first season with us and we expect even greater things this year," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He has the ability to lead the league in scoring, but his commitment to this team's goal is equally outstanding."

Wilson, who returned to the NLL last season after an 11-year hiatus, found his role in the Mammoth offense with surprising ease. Wilson was especially effective on special teams, scoring nine of his 14 goals on the power play. He added 19 assists for a career-high 33 points.

Prat, a 5-foot-8, 185-pound veteran of six NLL seasons, joins the Mammoth after three seasons in Vancouver. Prat posted back-to-back seasons with 60 points or more for the Ravens in 2002 and '03 before collecting 27 points in 12 games last season as the Ravens limped to a 5-11 record.

"We are thrilled to see what Chris will be capable of in this offense," Govett said. "He is a proven leader and winner and we are counting on him to have an impact this season."
