November 10, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

The Toronto Rock announced today that they have signed team Captain Jim Veltman and top goal scorer Colin Doyle each to two year contracts for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Both have been with the Toronto Rock since the club's inception in 1999.

Jim Veltman played in all 16 regular season games in 2004. He finished the season with 65 points on 12 goals and 53 assists. Veltman earned honours as the National Lacrosse League's Most Valuable Player for the 2004 season. In addition to his MVP honours, he was named Player of the Month for March 2004, Overall Player of the Week twice and Offensive Player of the week once during last season. Veltman once again led the Rock for looseballs (179) and finished first overall in the League as well. He has led League looseballs 12 out of the last 13 seasons with a career total of 1733 looseballs collected.

Colin Doyle had another outstanding season in 2004. He played in 16 games, finishing the season with 88 points on 33 goals and a Toronto Rock team high 55 assists. Doyle ranked 6th overall in League scoring (88 points) and 3rd overall in assists (55) in 2004. He is ranked 8th overall on League All-Time Assists Leaders with 266 assists in 96 games. Doyle was originally added to the team's roster when a teammate missed a flight to Toronto. In his first game, a 4-goal performance earned him a permanent spot on the bench and he has not missed a game since.

"Both Jim and Colin have been instrumental in the success of the Rock for the last 6 years. In addition to being an exceptional lacrosse player, Jim brings leadership to this team both on and off the floor. Colin is one of the most consistent players in the League today and when he brings his A-game to the floor, he also brings out the best in his teammates. We are thrilled to have signed both of these players to two-year contracts as they add the depth and versatility to the bench that this team will need to be successful in 2005." Terry Sanderson; Toronto Rock Head Coach and GM.
