Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that it has signed free agent Derek Hopcroft to a one-year deal. Hopcroft, a 25-year-old right-handed forward, was the 17th overall selection in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft by the Calgary Roughnecks.
"We are ecstatic to add a player of Derek's caliber to the roster," said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett. "We expect him to have a bright future in the NLL."
Hopcroft, who appeared in just three games for the Roughnecks last season, shined for the Brooklin Redmen in the Major Series Lacrosse league in Canada this summer. He led the league in goals scored (44) and finished second in points (84) in 20 games played.
"Derek is an impact player and a threat to score every time he touches the ball," continued Govett.
The Toronto, Ont. native has indicated that he will move to Denver later this year.
Colorado Mammoth season seats are on sale now and start at just $72. Reserve your seats today at ColoradoMammoth.com or by calling 303.405.1101.
