DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that the team has signed forward Joey Cupido, the 38th overall selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, to a two-year contract.

Cupido, a Hamilton, Ontario native, helped lead the Six Nations Arrows to the semi-finals of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League championship series this season, tallying 23 points (9 goals, 14 assists) in nine playoff games. Cupido, who has played for Six Nations since 2009, scored 100 of his 112 career points in the past two seasons.

"With training camp starting at the beginning of December, we'll get an up-close look at Joey and have a chance to see him compete against NLL veterans and other draft picks," said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett.

A two-sport athlete, Cupido plays defensive back for his hometown McMaster University football team. Holding the school record for interceptions by a player in a single game (4), Cupido recorded a pick in the Ontario University Athletics Football Conference Championship game this past weekend, helping the Marauders win the Yates Cup.

With the signing of Cupido, all eight players selected by the Mammoth in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft are under contract. The 21-year-old Cupido is the youngest player currently on the roster.

The Colorado Mammoth opens the 2012 season against the Minnesota Swarm on "Brian Langtry Night" on Saturday, January 14th and 7pm MST on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Season seats are on sale now and start at just $72. Reserve your seats today at ColoradoMammoth.com or by calling 303.405.1101.
