Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, November 17)... Rochester Knighthawks continued their holiday giving Wednesday as team President Lewis Staats presented a check to Associate Development Director Chris Scribani of the Open Door Mission of Rochester at the team's executive offices.

The check for $3,066.58 was donated to the organization through a 2010-11 partnership with Stephens Media Group, who was represented by Marketing Consultant Frank Logan.

"The Rochester Knighthawks know that our success is not achieved alone and we are happy to have partnered with Stephen's Media Group last season and be able to make this donation to the Open Door Mission," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "We are especially pleased to be making this donation at this time as we will soon be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday and we know that the Open Door Mission will be doing their part to support those in need at this time of year."

The Open Door Mission serves as a Christian Rescue Mission that was founded to provide for the spiritual and physical needs of the impoverished and homeless men, women and children of Rochester by restoring hope and changing lives.

"It never ceases to amaze me how much generosity there is in our community. The Rochester Knighthawks are a fine example of that spirit of giving back to those in need," said Scribani. "The Open Door Mission expects a wave of people to share in their annual Thanksgiving Day meal and thanks to our partnership with Rochester Knighthawks and Stephens Media group this donation will help us meet that demand."

The Knighthawks raised over $63,000 for local charities over the course of the 2010-11 season through the team's charitable foundation. Other community organizations receiving donations have included Urology Associates of Rochester, WEASE Cares, Camp Good Days, Hillside Family of Agencies, CURE Childhood Cancer Association, Stepping Stone, Dash for Dads - Rochester and others.

The Knighthawks also donated tickets to the Open Door Mission to their home preseason game against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 17th. Tickets for the 7:00 p.m. game at The Blue Cross Arena are FREE and available online at Knighthawks.net. For more information or to purchase season tickets, call (585) 454-HAWK (4295).

The Knighthawks will open their 2012 Training Camp at Total Sports Experience in Gates on Saturday, November 19th with a 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. session. Day 2 of camp is set for Sunday, November 20th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at TSE. Both sessions are free and open to the public.

The Knighthawks will continue their community outreach on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Build-A-Bear Workshop© at Eastview Mall. The Knighthawks players will donate bears to the General Sarge Gift-A-Bear Campaign, which benefits families of fallen heroes, to heroes wounded in action, or to military family children.
