DENVER - Transition player Nick Carlson re-signed with the Colorado Mammoth on Thursday, agreeing to a one-year contract with the National Lacrosse League champions.

Carlson, 26, was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2002 entry draft by the New York Saints. He played one season in New York before signing with the Mammoth prior to the 2004 season. He set career highs in 2006 with 14 goals, 15 assists and 29 points.

"Nick has become a leader on this team and has developed into one of the most dangerous transition players in the league," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He gets better each season and we're thrilled to have him back for another year."

Carlson, a 6-foot, 205-pound native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, lives in Denver. He helped the Mammoth to the 2006 NLL title with two goals and four assists in the three playoff games.
