DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth drew its first sellout of the season on Saturday night and gave the capacity crowd of 18,024 at Pepsi Center plenty to cheer about. The Mammoth reeled off nine consecutive goals in the first half and cruised to a 13-7 victory over the visiting Portland LumberJax.

The Mammoth improved its National Lacrosse League-best record to 9-1 while the reeling LumberJax lost their eighth consecutive game and fell to 2-8. The Mammoth is now 6-0 at home this season and has won its last 10 games at Pepsi Center, including last season's playoffs.

"We continue to play well, especially at home," Mammoth coach Gary Gait said. "It's a lot of fun for us to win in front of the great crowds we've had all season."

Mammoth forward Ben Prepchuk ended his three-game scoring drought with a pair of goals and Josh Sims, Gavin Prout and Dan Carey each added two goals. Brian Langtry had one goal and a game-high five assists while Nick Carlson, Nenad Gajic, Jordan Cornfield and Jamie Shewchuk each scored once.

Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash remained perfect on the season, improving his record to 8-0 while making 38 saves. Backup Chris Levis replaced Nash midway through the fourth quarter and stopped six of the seven shots he faced.

Portland scored the game's first goal with a power-play tally by Darren Reisig, but Shewchuk and Cornfield answered with goals 19 seconds apart to give the Mammoth a 2-1 lead and begin the nine-goal run. Langtry added a power-play goal and Sims scored to extend the Mammoth's lead to 4-1 heading into the second quarter.

Sims scored his second goal in a row to give the Mammoth a 5-1 lead, initiating the team's 6-2 dominance of the second quarter. Goals by Prepchuk, Carlson, Carey and Gajic extended the lead to 9-1 before Portland's Richard Morgan finally ended the run.
