Colorado Mammoth News Release
An estimated 16,121 fans attended the Colorado Mammoth Inaugural Game vs. the Toronto Rock at Pepsi Center on January 3, 2003.
These two teams last met in last season's semi-final round of the playoffs where the game went into double overtime... Toronto won the game 12-11, eliminating the Power from the playoffs.... Toronto went on to win the Champions Cup for the 2001-02 season.
Brian Langtry (#6) had the game winning goal with 1:14 remaining in the 2nd overtime of the game...Langtry had his first career assist and recorded his second and third career goals...he finished the night with 3 points (2g/1a)...he is from Englewood, CO and is a teacher at Cherry Creek High School.
First Mammoth franchise goal scored by Gary Gait (#22), assisted by Brian Langtry (#6) at 13:25 in the 2nd quarter.... Gait is 1st in NLL/ MLL All-Time regular season goals, assists, points, and shots... Gait had a total of 4 points (3g/1a).
Forward Ted Dowling (#16) scored the Mammoth's second franchise goal in the 2nd quarter and led the Mammoth in points with 5 (4g/1a) on the night.... Dowling is a salesman from Victoria, BC.
Goalie Erik Miller (#21) faced 65 shots and had 53 saves...Miller's record now stands at 6-4-3.
Brian Cole (#41) had his first career goal at 0:56 in the 3rd quarter... Cole is a rookie and was signed as free agent....he is from Baltimore, MD and is an assistant lacrosse coach.
Al Truant (#12) scored his second career goal at 2:57 in the 3rd quarter... Truant is from Burnaby, BC and played for the Vancouver Ravens during the 2001-02 season.
Forward Matt Ogelsby (#88) had one goal... Ogelsby is from San Francisco and runs STX/LAX youth camps.
