Mammoth Edge Roughnecks In Overtime

Calgary, AB - John Grant Jr. scored the game-winning goal two minutes into overtime lifting the Colorado Mammoth to a 14-13 win over the Calgary Roughnecks Saturday evening during Pete the Plumber Superhero Night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Roughnecks forwards Dane Dobbie (2g, 4a) and Jeff Shattler (1g, 5a) led the home club with six-point efforts, while Shawn Evans scored twice and set up three others. Curtis Dickson, Scott Ranger and Dan MacRae each netted a pair of goals for Calgary, with Daryl Veltman and Curtis Manning also scoring in the setback.

Adam Jones recorded a game-leading eight points for Colorado, scoring seven goals and adding an assist to match a franchise record for most goals scored by a Roughnecks opponent in a single game. Grant Jr. finished the night with five points (3g, 2a), while Joey Cupido, Dan Ball, Athan Iannucci and Jackson Decker each added single tallies in the win.

Roughnecks transition player Geoff Snider won 18 of 27 face-offs, while younger brother Bob recorded 10 face-offs wins for the Mammoth.

Colorado goaltender Dillon Ward stopped 35 of 48 shots he faced to record his second career NLL win, while Mike Poulin and Frankie Scigliano made a combined 32 saves in the loss.

The Roughnecks next see action on Saturday, Feb. 8 when Calgary visits the Minnesota Swarm for a 6:00 p.m. face-off at Xcel Energy Center, following a bye during Week 6 of the National Lacrosse League regular season.
