Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth fell to the Boston Blazers, 11-6, at the TD Garden in Boston on Saturday night.

The Blazers dominated the contest from start to finish, jumping out to a 7-1 halftime lead. Colorado managed to outscore the Blazers in the third quarter and matched the Boston offense in the fourth, but was never able to mount a comeback.

"I give full credit to Boston and [Blazers goalie] Anthony Cosmo," said Mammoth Head Coach Bob Hamley. "We didn't shoot the ball very well tonight but he was solid."

The Mammoth struggled on special teams, giving up a power-play goal and three short-handed goals while failing to score on six power-play opportunities, including a five-minute illegal cross-checking major penalty called against Blazers' defenseman Jack Reid in the fourth quarter.

"Their short-man was very good tonight," said Hamley. "We didn't convert on our opportunities."

Bright spots for the Mammoth included strong efforts in goal by Chris Levis and Matt King, as well as two-goal, two-assist outings from both John Grant, Jr. and Dan Carey. Carey, who was sidelined for all of 2010 and much of 2009, scored his first goals since January 31, 2009.

The loss drops the Mammoth record to 1-5 on the season, while the Blazers improve to 5-3.

The Mammoth's next game is Sunday, February 20 at 6pm on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center against the Minnesota Swarm. Celebrate the holiday weekend with a Mammoth Party Pack. Get four tickets, four beers or sodas and four hot dogs for just $39.
