
Mammoth 2-0 after victory in Arizona

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Dan Carey scored four goals and Josh Sims added three to lead the Colorado Mammoth to a 10-6 victory over the Arizona Sting at the Jobing.com Arena on Friday night.
The Mammoth improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating the Sting (0-1) before 7,179 fans in their National Lacrosse League season opener.
Jordan Cornfield scored his first goal in a Mammoth uniform and Mike Law and Brian Langtry each added a goal for the Mammoth. Captain Gavin Prout had a game-high five assists and became the Mammoth's all-time leading scorer with 274 points, passing Mammoth coach Gary Gait's mark of 270.
Dan Dawson and Craig Conn each had two goals to lead the Sting, but Arizona was held to just three second half goals as the Mammoth pulled away.
"We played a very strong defensive game and earned a tough road win against a good team," Gait said.
Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash was excellent, making 42 saves - 15 of which came in the fourth quarter - to earn his first victory of the season. Rob Blasdell took the loss for the Sting, stopping 35 shots.
