Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, January 5)... Rochester Knighthawks All-Pro forward John Grant will miss tonight's game against the San Jose Stealth due to a one-game suspension handed down from the National Lacrosse League on Thursday. Grant will sit out the contest because of an intent to injure penalty that was accessed at the end of last week's game at Denver on a hit thrown on John Gallant.

Tonight, the Knighthawks play the San Jose Stealth at 10:30 p.m. at HP Pavilion. The game will be broadcast on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. The game will also be televised on FSN Bay Area. The station is available on both DirecTV ch. 654 and Dish Network ch. 419. Any home or business with that service, which includes the Sports Pack should also get the station.

The Knighthawks opened their 13th season last Saturday with a 20-15 loss to the Colorado Mammoth at Pepsi Center. Rochester was led by six points from Shawn Williams (2+4) and five-point efforts from Scott Evans (4+1), Grant (2+3) and Mike Accursi (1+4). Mike Miron took the loss in his Rochester debut, despite making 30 saves. He replaced Pat O'Toole late in the first quarter.

Rochester (0-1) will look to rebound against a revamped San Jose lineup that now includes perennial All-Pro Colin Doyle. The Stealth acquired the 2005 NLL MVP from the Toronto Rock on December 27th, along with Darren Halls and their first-round selection in the 2007 Entry Draft. In exchange, San Jose sent Ryan Benesch, Kevin Fines, Chad Thompson and its first-round selections in the 2008 and 2009 Entry Drafts to the Rock. The game this Friday is the Stealth's home and season opener.

Rochester plays its home opener on Saturday, January 13th against the Toronto Rock at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The first 10,000 fans that night will receive Thundersticks courtesy of Time Warner Cable. The official Postgame Party will be held at Pig-N-Whistle (7 Lawrence Street).

To commemorate the Knighthawk's 13 season, 13 lucky fans at the game will win season tickets for the remainder of the season. Fans can sign up at the ticket table in the upper atrium lobby.
