Atlanta Gladiators News Release

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced Wednesday the signing of rookie forwards Jeremie Malouin and Kurtis Bartliff.

Malouin (pronounced MAL-WEH), 21, is coming off a five-year stint in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he totaled 122 points (60 goals, 62 assists) in 296 games. The Granby, Quebec native played in 60 games for the Drummondville Voltigeurs last season, and tallied a career-high 30 goals to go along with 112 penalty minutes. He also had four assists in five playoff games.

"Jeremie is a winger with good size, and he skates well," said Emmett. "He's not shy to get his nose dirty and identifies with his role pretty well, which is key for a young guy. He's been a captain since he was 17, so he has good leadership qualities."

Bartliff, 23, spent the past four years at Colgate University, racking up 23 goals and 42 assists in 134 games. The Clinton, Ontario native scored nine goals and added eight assists in 36 games as a senior last season.

"He put up good numbers his sophomore season," said Gladiators head coach Rick Emmett. "Kurtis plays three zones really well. He's a smart player and he will fit in nicely."

Malouin and Bartliff push the Gladiators 2013-14 roster up to seven. The team previously signed defensemen Devon Krogh and Jonathan Narbonne, as well as forwards Evan Bloodoff, Dirk Southern, and C.J. Lee.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.

Atlanta's only professional hockey franchise opens their 11th season on October 18th against division rival Greenville. For all the latest team news, contests, and more visit GwinnettGladiators.com, or like the Gladiators on Facebook, and follow the team on Twitter.
