IceMen Agree to Terms with Matt Krug for 2013-2014

EVANSVILLE, Ind-- The Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Krug for the 2013-14 season. The IceMen added their fifth blue-liner with the return of the popular 28-year-old Krug. The team now has 16 players on roster for 2013-14 with only five weeks to go until the team begins training camp.
"There's definitely been a culture change," Krug said. "Coach (Jeff) Pyle has made good strides toward bringing in the right players and putting together the right group."
The 5'11", 210-pound Krug played in 25 games last season with the IceMen, contributing six points on two goals and four assists.
Krug was initially acquired by Evansville in January in the midst of a mid-season depleting of the defensive corps due to injury.
Prior to signing with the IceMen, Krug played for the Missouri Mavericks (CHL) where he appeared in 18 games during the 2012-13 season.
Krug's previous ECHL experience includes a stint in 2009-10 with Pyle and his former team, the Gwinnett Gladiators. In 139 games played in the ECHL with the IceMen, Gladiators, Toledo Walleye and Ft. Wayne Komets, Krug has recorded 38 points on five goals and 33 assists.
The Livonia, Mich. native played four years of college hockey, three with Wayne State University (CHA) from 2005=08. There, Krug appeared in 105 games and managed 34 points on 10 goals and 24 assists. Krug played for Robert Morris University in his senior season in 2008-09, where he appeared in 29 games, tallying nine points on four goals and five assists.
In addition, Krug's resume includes one appearance in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves during the 2010-11 campaign.
