Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds have optioned LHP Matt Maloney to the Carolina Mudcats, and Maloney will start the series opener against the Mississippi Braves on Thursday night.
Maloney made his major league debut earlier this season with the Reds after spending the rest of the 2009 campaign with the Triple-A Louisville Bats.
