The good folks at Southern Elegance Dance Studio will put on a dance exhibition for us. This is the night you bring your date to the ballpark. And if you're coming to the game, make sure you get here early and head over to the back parking lot down the 1st base side where Allison Tofflemire will be hosting a Huntsville Stars tailgate party. The party will begin at 3:30 pm. Bring your grills, lawn chairs, bean bag toss, potato salad, chips, meat, drinks, etc. Please remember also to clean up after yourself and be responsible. That's a great idea for a cheap date or for a smart date who wants to do things inexpensively (cheap). Immediately following the game one lucky fan in attendance who participated in our online trivia contest on WHNT's website will be invited onto the field for a chance to win $5,000.
Sunday, September 6th, 1:00 pm
Our final Super Soaker Sunday courtesy of FOX 54. Gates will open at noon and fans are once again invited onto the field to play catch. You bring a buddy and your gloves, Athens State University provides the baseball, yours to keep. Then fill up your water balloons and Super Soakers and get your game on. Immediately following the game we'll have post-game run the bases for anybody and everybody that wants to run, walk or stroll the base paths.
Monday, September 7th, 1:00 pm
A bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day at the office. It's the regular season finale for the Stars and Jacksonville Suns. Come on out and enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark without feeling guilty. It's Labor Day and the only work you'll have to do is the driving to the ballpark. The auto dealers hosting the car show will give away four (4) $500 cash prizes on Monday, one during the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th innings. If you want a chance to win this cash you must test-drive a vehicle sometime during the weekend.
That will wrap up the regular season. The playoffs will begin next Thursday right here at Joe Davis Stadium with the Stars hosting either the Chattanooga Lookouts, Tennessee Smokies or West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The Jacksonville Suns will be at Birmingham for the first two games of the Southern Division's playoffs. This weekend will have three teams duking it out for one spot, and those three teams are separated by only one game.
Season ticket holders, make sure that you stop by the Box Office for your playoff tickets and if you haven't already done so.
In player transactions: Jim Henderson and Brett Lawrie were placed on the Temporary Inactive List to play for Team Canada in the IBF World Cup, David Welch was placed on the Temporary Inactive List to play for Team Australia in the IBF World Cup, Casey Baron was activated from the Disabled List and Juan Sandoval was promoted to Nashville. Joining the Stars are RHP Cody Scarpetta and INF Mike Brownstein, both from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
