
Mallards' Stinziani Named Oakley CHL Second Star for March

MOLINE, Ill. (March 26, 2013) - Quad City Mallards forward Mike Stinziani has been named Oakley Central Hockey League Second Star for the month of March, the Mallards announced today in conjunction with the CHL.
Stinziani, 23, scored seven goals and totaled 12 points while helping propel the Mallards to a league-best 11-0-2 record in March.
Stinziani, a Montreal native, finished the regular season second among CHL rookies in goals (26), tied for second among first year players in points (51) and fourth among rookies in assists (25).
Players are awarded five points each time they are named first star of a game, three points for second star recognition and one point for being tabbed third star . Stinziani this month was named first star of three games and took second star honors once to earn 18 points and finish just one point behind monthly first star Kevin Baker of Arizona. Stinziani joins Mickey Lang- who was named February's third star- as the second Mallard in as many months to be named one of the league's three stars.
The 5' 9", 205-pound Stinziani joined the Mallards after scoring 12 goals picking up 31 assists and totaling 43 points in 27 games with Concordia University in Montreal last season. He finished third in both assists and points in the Canadian university ranks last season. For his efforts, Stinziani was named to the 2011-12 Ontario University Athletics East second all-star team. Stinziani first took the ice for the Stingers in 2010-11, scoring eight goals and ringing up 17 points in just 12 games.
Stinziani headed to Concordia after spending five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He scored 58 times and recorded 148 points in 269 career junior games with the Gatineau Olympiques, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Prince Edward Island Rocket. In 2008 Stinziani helped the Olympiques to the QMJHL President's Cup title.
The Mallards will open their best-of-seven opening round Ray Miron President's Cup playoff series against the Fort Worth Brahmas Thursday night in Fort Worth at 7:00 p.m. The Mallards will play game two- also on the road- Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. before returning home for game three next Wednesday evening, April 3 at 7:05 p.m. and game four next Friday night, April 5 at 7:05 p.m. Should a fifth game prove necessary, it will be played at the i wireless Center next Saturday night, April 6 at 7:05 p.m. If a sixth game is required, the series will shift back to Fort Worth for that tilt on Tuesday night, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Brahmas would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Fort Worth.
Tickets for the Mallards' first round home games are now on sale. All first round playoff seats will be available for just $12 for adults and $9 for youth 12 and under. In addition, adult opening round tickets for fans who wear green to playoff games as part of the Mallards' "Green Out", will be available for just $10 at the i wireless Center ticket office.
Playoff tickets can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
