
Mallards Sign Three Hitters, Pitcher from West Coast

Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards have announced the signings of Collin Theroux (San Joaquin Delta College), Mikey Diekroeger (Stanford University), Jake Roberts (Yakima Valley Community College) and Jesse Kay (University of California) to their 2015 roster.
Theroux, a 6'3", 220-pound catcher, will suit up for the Mallards following his sophomore season with the Mustangs. Currently, he leads Delta College in home runs (8), slugging percentage (.525) and runs batted in (25). Originally from San Mateo, California, Theroux attended Serra High School. He batted .348 with five home runs and an on-base percentage of .517 as a senior en route to winning his team's most valuable player honors and an honorable mention in Perfect Game's California region all-high school squad. Theroux will transfer to Oklahoma State University this fall.
Diekroeger, a 6'2", 195-pound infielder, will join his Cardinal teammate Bryce Carter in Madison after his freshman campaign with Standford wraps up this spring. Diekroeger currently leads the Cardinal in on-base percentage (.418) and batting average (.318) over his first 108 at-bats from the left side of the plate. Born and raised in Woodside, California, Diekroeger received was on Perfect Game's California - All Region First Team during his senior season, and is the younger brother of Danny and Kenny, Stanford grads who now play minor league baseball professionally.
Roberts, a 5'10", 180-pound catcher for Yakima Valley Community College, will suit up for the Mallards after his sophomore season with the Yaks. Currently, Roberts leads the Yaks with 23 RBIs along with a .348 batting average and 11 doubles. His 20.4 runs created rank second-most of any player on Yakima Valley's roster. He is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and played for Plainfield South High School.
Kay, a 6'1", 205-pound right-handed pitcher at the University of California, will join Madison's 2015 pitching staff following his red-shirt sophomore season with the Golden Bears. In nine relief appearances (6.1 IP) with Cal this spring, Kay owns an ERA of 4.26 with five strikeouts, seven walks and a .250 batting average against. Originally from San Diego, California, Kay contributed as a catcher with Cathedral Catholic High School in 2011 and 2012, teams ranked in the top 15 nationally by ESPN. He is the son of Rick Kay, who played baseball at Wesleyan University.
The Mallards host their season opener on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:35 pm when they take on the Kalamazoo Growlers. Mallards single game tickets are on sale now!
