Mallards Sign Takacs

MOLINE, Ill. (February 28, 2012) - The Quad City Mallards have signed goaltender Kyle Takacs, the Mallards announced today.

Takacs, a 25-year old Iowa City resident, last suited up professionally in 2009-10 when he served as a short-term backup for the the ECHL's Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays without seeing game action. The 5-8, 200-pound Takacs played club hockey for Florida Gulf Coast University from 2005 to 2009.

Takacs fills the roster spot vacated Sunday when netminder David McKee was recalled from the Mallards by the American Hockey League's Peoria Rivermen for the third time this season.

Takacs first came to the attention of Mallards coach and general manager David Bell when Takacs took part in a Mallards open tryout in October presented by Dwyer & Michaels and 97X. Dwyer & Michaels are heard weekday mornings from 5:30 to 10:00 a.m. on 97X in the Quad Cities and online at 2dorks.com.

The Mallards return to action on home ice tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets. Fans can purchase $2 soft drinks and $2 beers at i wireless Center concession stands during all Tuesday night home games this season.

Single game tickets are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates. In addition, tickets are available to military personnel for $2 off the regular adult rate.
