Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-1.
The Laredo Bucks and their rivals the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees faced off in a pivotal game Tuesday night in Hidalgo. The Bucks lost to the Bees 8-2 the last time these two teams met.
The Bucks got on the board early in the game. David Inman scored a top shelf powerplay goal at 2:14 in the game. Inman was assisted by Neil Trimm and Matt Hanson. Ryan Rondeau made an incredible open net save for the Bucks early in the first half of the opening frame. The Laredo Bucks special teams were busy with two back to back penalty kills. Rondeau continued to play well throughout the first to keep the one goal lead for the Bucks. The Bucks were outshot by the Bees 13-7 in the first period.
The Bucks spent most of the second period once again on the penalty kill. Laredo was successfully killing off the penalties until Aaron Lee scored a powerplay goal for the Bees at 15:06. The goal tied the game 1-1. The Bucks were once again outshot 9-6 by the Bees in the middle frame.
Laredo and Rio began the third period knotted up at one goal apiece. Special teams once again played an important role. The penalty kill unit went to work at 8:35 killing off yet another Killer Bee powerplay. The Bucks powerplay unit went to work at 11:07, but it was cut short when Erik Boisvert was called for hooking at 12:08. Then the Bees goaltender was called for leaving the crease, putting the Bucks back on the powerplay. Neither team was able to take advantage of the extra skater. The Bees swarmed the Bucks scoring two quick goals late in the period giving them a 3-1 lead. The Bucks pulled Rondeau with 32 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately the Bees were able to score an empty net goal, giving them a 4-1 lead. The Bees outshot the 19-6 in the closing period.
