Mallards Sign Rookie Rearguard

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Nick Harloff. The 22-year old rearguard is a rookie by United Hockey League rule as he has appeared in 58 pro games.

Harloff spent the 2005-06 season with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and a trio of ECHL teams. He recorded two points (both assists) in 19 games with the Cottonmouths. The Kitchener, Ontario native played 38 ECHL games last season with the South Carolina Stingrays, Florida Everblades and Dayton Bombers. He collected nine points on three goals and six assists during his time in the ECHL.

Harloff completed his junior career in 2004-05 with the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. The 6-foot, 181-pound defenseman recorded 43 points (11 goals and 32 assists) in 45 games during his final year of amateur hockey.

To make room on the roster for Harloff, the team has waived defenseman Marcus Reszka. Reszka appeared in four games on the Mallards blueline.

Opening Weekend at The MARK presented by Genesis is set for Friday, November 3rd vs. Fort Wayne and Saturday, November 4th vs. Rockford. Game time is 7:00 p.m. on both nights and both contests will be preceded by a laser show and pyrotechnics display. A special ticket package is available for both games courtesy of Genesis.
