Mallards Set for Two Games at The MARK this Weekend

Moline, IL – The Mallards dropped a pair of road games over the holiday weekend before returning home for a 4-1 win over Fort Wayne. With the home win, the Mallards are 7-0-1 at The MARK this season.

The Mallards started the weekend with a 5-3 loss at Fort Wayne on Thanksgiving Night. On Friday, the Mallards lost to Motor City 4-2 in their first trip to "The Garage". The Mallards returned home Saturday to beat Fort Wayne on Kerry Toporowski Night.

Upcoming Games

· Friday, December 3rd, 7:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Outlaws- The Mallards visit Kansas City for the first time this season on Friday. The Mallards are 2-0-0 vs. Kansas City in two meetings at The MARK. The First Capital Financial Pre-Game Show starts at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. After the game, stay tuned for the Allstate Insurance Del Newton/Christy Cox Post-Game Show.

· Saturday, December 4th, 7:00 p.m. vs. the Flint Generals at The MARK of the Quad Cities

The Mallards will be "Ringing in the Holidays with Riddle's Jewelry"! Fans in attendance will receive a $20 coupon redeemable at Riddle's Northpark Mall or Southpark Mall location with any purchase over $100. One lucky fan will receive a $2,000 shopping spree from Riddle's.

Ken Baker will also be in attendance as the Mallards take on the Generals. Saturday, December 4 vs. Flint

The Generals come to Quad City for the first time this season. On October 16 at Flint, Mike Kompon scored with 1:35 left to tie a game that the Mallards won in a shootout. The Generals are 10-6-1 since that loss.

Sunday, December 5 vs. Rockford

The IceHogs return to The MARK on Sunday for their fifth meeting with the Mallards. Quad City is 1-2-1 this season vs. Rockford. In the teams' only meeting at The MARK, the Mallards lost a shootout 2-1.

The Mallards are fourth in the Western Division, eight points behind the Rockford IceHogs for first.

Deskins Impresses

Jason Deskins scored a goal in each of the Mallards three games this weekend. Deskins scored his sixth goal of the season in the third period on Thursday at Fort Wayne. On Friday, the Warren, Michigan native returned to the rink he grew up playing in and scored a goal in the Mallards 4-2 loss

at Motor City. Deskins added an empty net goal on Saturday at The MARK vs. Fort Wayne.

Otten Offensive

Drew Otten scored in three consecutive Mallards games from November 21st-26th. On Friday in Motor City, Otten scored the team's second shorthanded goal of the season when he beat Motor City's Rod Branch while Sergei Durdin was in the penalty box.

Scrappy Stewart Scores for Mallards

Dave Stewart has scored in six of the Mallards last seven games. The Antigonish, Nova Scotia native has three goals and four assists for seven points in his last seven games. He is on pace to establish new career highs in goals and points.

Thursday, November 25-Quad City 3 at Fort Wayne 5

The Mallards allowed four unanswered goals between the second and third period as Fort Wayne handed the Mallards their sixth loss of 2004-05. Drew Otten, Jason Deskins and Dave Stewart scored for the Mallards in the loss.

Friday, November 26-Quad City 2 at Motor City 4

Motor City upended the Mallards to secure their third win of the season. The Mallards took a 1-0 lead at the 7:52 mark of the first when Drew Otten scored the teams' second shorthanded goal of 2004-05. Joe Burton answered for the Mallards with three straight goals before Jason Deskins cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal at the 16:54 mark of the second. Motor City's Matt Hunter scored the only goal of the third period as the Mallards fell to 9-7-1 on the season.

Saturday, November 27-Fort Wayne 1 at Quad City 4

The Mallards avenged Thursday night's loss with a 4-1 win on home ice vs. Fort Wayne. Robert Gherson stopped 43 of 44 shots as the Mallards established a new season high for shots allowed. Joe Dusbabek had a goal and two assists to earn first star honors. Dave Stewart, Sergei Durdin and Jason Deskins also scored in the win.

Player of the Week

Jason Deskins is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. Deskins had a goal in each of the Mallards games over the Holiday Weekend.

Goaltender of the Week

Robert Gherson is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. Gherson stopped 24 of 29 shots in a 5-3 loss at Fort Wayne on Thanksgiving Night. Gherson rebounded to stop 43 of 44 Komets shots on Saturday at The MARK.
