Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets earned 6 points in 4 games for the week to move into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference, 6 points behind Rockford, after 7 weeks of the 2004-05 UHL campaign.

Wednesday the Komets grounded the Wings in Kalamazoo 5-2. Colin Chaulk registered a 3-point night scoring a goal and adding 2 assists. Rob Guinn notched his first 2-goal performance of the season while Chris Grenville and Dustin Virag also netted markers. Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre picked up the win stopping 34 of 36 Kalamazoo shots.

Thursday the Komets feasted on the Mallards of Quad City for a 5-3 Thanksgiving holiday win in front of 8,060 Fort Wayne fans at the Memorial Coliseum. It was the Komet’s 43rd consecutive Thanksgiving home game as they improved their holiday record at home to 26-14-3. Jason Kean registered his first pro 2-goal game and added an assist for a 3-point night. Sean Venedam, Virag and Grenville tallied a goal each. St. Pierre posted the win making 34 saves.

Saturday the Komets had their 4-game win string snapped with a 4-1 setback at Quad City. Tom Nelson scored the lone Komet goal while netminder Tyler Masters posted the loss stopping 21 of 24 Mallard shots.

Sunday the Komets returned to Fort Wayne and doubled-up the visiting Muskegon Fury 4-2. Chaulk registered his 5th 3-point game of the season (2g, 1a) in the Komet’s 3rd straight win over the defending Colonial Cup Champion Fury and 4th straight home win. Grenville and Kean each added goals while St. Pierre took his 9th win of the season and extended his win streak to 4 games making 21 of 23 saves.

This week the Komets once again are slated to play 4 games in 5 nights. Wednesday the Komets face the Western Conference leading IceHogs at Rockford at 8:05pm (Fort Wayne time). Friday the Komets travel to Motor City to face the Mechanics at 7pm in the first ever meeting between the 2 teams. Saturday the Komets head to Muskegon for another match against the Fury at L.C. Walker Arena at 7:30pm. Sunday the Komets return home to host the Flint Generals at 5pm.

It’s a new Komet record…..winger Dustin Virag became the Komet’s all-time UHL goal-scoring leader with his 75th goal in his 213th Komet career game played Wednesday (Nov. 24) at Kalamazoo in the Komet’s 5-2 win over the Wings.

Komets to honor the Panthers Sunday…..the Komets will honor the Mighty Snider Panthers High School Football team during this Sunday’s home game against the Flint Generals at 5pm. The Panthers completed a 14-1 season winning the Summit Athletic Conference Championship and advancing to the Indiana 5-A High School Football Championship game held this past Saturday.

Skate with the Komets Sunday…..it’s another Sunday post-game Wendy’s Family Skate with the Komets this Sunday, Dec. 5, after the Komets take on the Flint Generals at 5pm. Fans can bring their skates and take advantage of the free skate after the game.
