Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (December 19, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards announced today that Mallards players and staff will join the Salvation Army's 2011 Red Kettle Campaign by volunteering as bell ringers this Wednesday, December 21 at NorthPark Mall in Davenport.

Mallards players will ring bells to solicit donations for the annual Red Kettle Drive at NorthPark Mall from 4-8 pm Wednesday. Mallards players will be stationed at each of the three Red Kettle locations at the Mall: outside of JC Penney, at Iowa's Largest Red Kettle, which is centrally located in the mall and outside of the Food Court entrance.

Major Gary Felton, the Salvation Army's Quad Cities Coordinator, states, "It is exciting to have the Mallards back for a third year! It is easy to see why they have so many Quad Cities fans- they are a group that gives back to the community."

The Mallards will also be donating the proceeds from a special ornament auction held at the Mallards' home game last Saturday night. Puck ornaments autographed by Mallards players were part of a silent auction raising over $700 to benefit the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.

"The Red Kettle Campaign is a very important endeavor throughout the holiday season", said Mallards Executive Vice President Ryan Simmons. "The work done by the Salvation Army in our community is hugely beneficial, and the Mallards are proud to take part in something that so positively effects the Quad Cities area. Our players and staff are privileged to participate in this respected campaign."

This year's Red Kettle Campaign goal is set at $700,000. NorthPark Mall is located at 320 West Kimberly Road in Davenport.
