Published on December 19, 2011 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
TEMPE, AZ (December 19, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Wichita's Thomas Beauregard has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending December 18, 2011.
In recognition of his achievement, Beauregard will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about the wide range of Oakley's products, visit www.oakley.com.
The Montreal native has been steady all season for the Thunder in recent games and is averaging over a point-per-game with 29 points in his 24 games played and sits second on his team in scoring. He also finds himself tied for ninth place in the entire league in the scoring department. Beauregard is currently on a six-game point streak and has scored multiple points in five of his last six outings.
During this past week, Beauregard recorded nine points in his four games played and scored multiple points in each contest. Wichita won all four games and Beauregard's presence was one of the main reasons. In his first outing on Tuesday, Beauregard notched the game-winning goal early in the third, plus an assist, giving his team a 5-3 win over the Fort Wayne Komets. On Friday, Beauregard notched another assist and buried the game with an empty netter to beat the Killer Bee's 4-1.
He carried his strong play into Saturday night's 3-0 domination against the Killer Bees and notched a goal in both the second and third period. Although playing for a third time in three days, Beauregard still played strong and put up a goal and two assists to help his team beat the Brahmas 4-3 on Sunday. He was named first star on the night and pushed his point streak to six games.
Wichita is the hottest team in the Central Hockey League right now with a 17-7-0 record and 34 points; they find themselves tied for the number one spot in both the Berry Conference and the league.
