Arizona Sundogs News Release


PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - After closing out a four-game home stand last week, the Arizona Sundogs head to the road for a pair of games against the Rapid City Rush before the Christmas holiday this weekend. The Sundogs find themselves just two points back of fifth place in the CHL's Berry Conference.

Season overall: 9-13-4, 22 pts. - 6th in Berry Conference

Tuesday vs. Quad City, 4-3 (OT) Overtime Loss

Rookie newcomer Kevin Petovello scored midway through the third period for the Sundogs to knot the game at 3-3, but Quad City's Eric Giosa scored 44 seconds into overtime to give the Mallards the win - though Arizona still picked up a point in the standings. David Nimmo and Jeff Martens also scored for the Sundogs.

Wednesday vs. Quad City, 3-2 Win

Arizona scored all three of their goals on the power play, with Jeff Hazelwood netting two, in the Sundogs win. David Nimmo also scored for Arizona and Scott Reid made 23 saves to earn his seventh win of the season. The Sundogs' three power play goals were the most scored in a game this year.

Friday vs. Tulsa, 4-3 Loss

In a see-saw battle between the Oilers and the Sundogs, Tulsa's David Solway scored the game-winner with 4:20 left in the third period. The game was tied on three difference occasions throughout the night. Scott Reid made 35 saves in the loss for Arizona.

Saturday vs. Tulsa, 4-3 Loss

Trailing 4-1 entering the third period, the Sundogs made a furious rush in the game's final minutes to close the gap to 4-3 as Adam Smyth and Kyle Hood each scored. The Sundogs made a final push with the extra attacker on the ice, but 47 saves by Ian Keserich of the Oilers cemented the 4-3 win.
