MADISON, WI - June 30, 2011. The Madison Mallards will look to get back on track Thursday as they face the Green Bay Bullfrogs in a 7:05 p.m. contest at the "Duck Pond."

The Mallards have faltered as of late, losing three of their last four, but remain tied for first place in the South Division with Eau Claire and Green Bay.

Thursday will be the fourth game against the Bullfrogs for the Mallards this season. Green Bay has had the Mallards' number, going 3-0 and outscoring the team 31-4.

Hoping to reverse the team's fortune against Green Bay will be Mallards' starting pitcher Jerad Grundy (Heartland Community College). Grundy is also looking to get himself on the right track after starting 0-3 with an ERA over 9.00 through his first six appearances this season. Grundy has pitched once against the Bullfrogs this season, going 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs in the team's 15-3 loss back on June 17.

Tim Giel (Columbia University) will throw for the Bullfrogs. Giel, a sophomore, is 3-1 this season and boasts a 1.52 ERA in five games played. He has pitched 29.2 innings and allowed only five earned runs while tallying 21 strikeouts. He has not faced the Mallards yet this season. Four of his five appearances have come against teams under .500, and his lone loss came against Battle Creek, the only team he has faced over the .500 mark.

The Mallards' offense will also be trying to get things straightened out. The team did not take advantage of many opportunities Wednesday and only managed six hits against the league's best pitching staff.

Following the game, both teams will head to Green Bay for the final game of the series Friday and will face each other for the final time in the first half. Game time at Johannes Stadium is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Thursday is also a great night for promotions at the "Duck Pond." It will be Wiener Appreciation Night presented by Oscar Meyer, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Mallards Vintage Bobble Boy at the gate courtesy of Dr. Jay Hazen Dentistry. The first 500 adults will also receive a Mallards can coozie sponsored by Group Health Cooperative, and fans residing in DeForest and Windsor receive 2-for-1 field box tickets with their proof of residency (day of game, in-person only).

In the News Bullfrogs' outfielder Billy Moon (Gonzaga) was named Northwoods League "Player of the Night" for his performance against the Mallards Wednesday. Moon went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, contributing to Green Bay's 7-1 victory.

Scoreboard Watch With the first half of the season coming to a close soon, it is time to start watching the Mallards' opponents within the division. The other marquee game in the South Thursday is in Michigan, and first- place Eau Claire visits Battle Creek. The Bombers trail the Express, Bullfrogs, and Mallards by one game. First pitch at C.O. Brown Stadium is 7:05 p.m.
