
Mallards Kick off Camp; First Scrimmage Tonight at 7:30

MOLINE, Ill. (October 10, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League open their 2011 training camp this evening at the i wireless Center. In addition, the Mallards today announced they have signed defenseman Aaron Schwartz to a tryout agreement.
The Mallards will begin camp in earnest at 7:30 this evening with a session that will culminate in an intra-squad scrimmage. While open ice will be available to the Mallards this afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., that session is strictly optional. Camp will continue with double sessions tomorrow and Wednesday. Training camp is open to the public free of charge. The full camp schedule is below.
Schwartz, 26, arrives in the Quad Cities after brief stints last season in the Federal and All-American Hockey Leagues. Before turning professional, the 5'11", 205-pound native of Riverwoods, Illinois played close to home- for DePaul in the American College Hockey Association.
Schwartz joins Obi Aduba, Jesse Biduke, Jared Boyer, Jared Brown, Justin Chwedoruk, Peter Drikos, Sean Flanagan, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Tyler Gilmore, Phillip Ischi, Jason Kostadine, Martin Kubaliak, Mickey Lang, Karl Linden, Shane Lovdahl, Brandon Marino, David McKee, Darren McMillan, Jeff Moor, Nick Niedert, Bobby Preece, Tyler Sheldrake, Billy Siers, A.J. Simone, John Snowden and Quinn Waller to bring the number of players on the Mallards' preseason roster to 29.
The Mallards will see preseason action this weekend at the i wireless Center in the Ice Breaker. The Mallards will meet Evansville at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the opener of a hockey doubleheader. At 7:30 Saturday evening, the Bloomington PrairieThunder and Missouri Mavericks will close out the twin bill. The Mallards and Mavericks will meet the following afternoon at 2:00 p.m. after taking part in a combined open practice at 12:30 p.m.
The Mallards will open their second CHL regular season on home ice on Saturday night, October 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush. The Flock's 2011-12 schedule features 33 home games, including 25 weekend dates. 2011-12 season tickets are now on sale- season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. Single game tickets for both the Ice Breaker and regular season contests are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level.
