Blaze Open Training Camp

October 10, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release

For the first time, players wearing the logo of the Bloomington Blaze have skated on U.S. Cellular Coliseum ice as training camp opens.

The Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, welcomed 30 players to the camp's opening day.

"The enthusiasm of the players was terrific," said Blaze head coach Paul Gardner. "It was an upbeat locker room before we went out for two hours. They were high-tempo, and I was pleasantly surprised with the ability of everybody. I'm looking forward to day two."

The Blaze have four goalies, 16 forwards and 10 defensemen in camp. Gardner says he'll use the first five days of camp in addition to the two pre-season games this weekend to make decisions on the final 18-player roster that will begin the season.

Camp sessions continue at 10 a.m. each day through Friday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The public is welcome to attend. The Blaze will face the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday at 7 p.m. at iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois in pre-season action, then conclude exhibition play on Sunday at 3 p.m. against the Evansville IceMen at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Tickets for Sunday's pre-season game are only $5 and will be general admission.

Tickets for all Blaze home contests are now on sale by calling the team office at 309-434-2980. A complete schedule and more team information can be found at www.bloomingtonblaze.com.
