Mallards Go Unbeaten on Eastern Swing

The Mallards strung together three consecutive wins along with a shootout loss to Adirondack to finish a four-game Eastern road swing with an unbeaten 3-0-1 record. The Mallards opened the trip with a hard-fought 3-2 shootout loss to Adirondack on Wednesday night. The second game of the trip featured a match-up with the talented Danbury Trashers. The scrappy Mallards came away with a 3-1 victory on a late empty net goal by Glenn Detulleo. The Mallards finished the weekend with a pair of one-goal victories over the Elmira Jackals.

Sunday, November 13th at 1:00 p.m. vs. Fort Wayne Komets-Post-Game Skate at The MARK and Post-Game Party at Bier Stube
A day of fun begins with the Mallards 1:00 p.m. face-off vs. Fort Wayne. After the game, selected Mallards will stay at The MARK to skate with fans. The rest of the team will meet up with fans at the Bier Stube in Moline for a post-game Sunday party.

Friday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m. vs. Motor City Mechanics at The MARK of the Quad Cities
The Mechanics return to The MARK following a 4-3 shootout loss to the Mallards on Opening Night. Motor City is second in the Central Division entering week four of 2005-06. The Mechanics have played more games (10) than any team in the UHL.

Saturday, November 12th at 6:35 p.m. central time vs. Flint Generals at Perani Arena
The Mallards return to Flint where they beat the Generals 6-3 on October 21st. Since their previous meeting in Flint, the Generals beat the Mallards 3-2 at The MARK on October 28th.

Sunday, November 13th at 1:00 p.m. vs. Fort Wayne Komets at The MARK of the Quad Cities
The Mallards and Komets lock horns for the first time this season on Sunday at The MARK. The intradivisional rivals have a combined eight Colonial Cup Final appearances and four Colonial Cup Championships.

Wednesday, November 2nd -Mallards 2 at Adirondack 3---Shootout
The Mallards begin a four-game East Coast swing in Adirondack with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Eastern Division leading Adirondack Frostbite. Rookie Anthony Blumer and Andrei Lupandin scored for Quad City. The Frostbite opened the scoring 12:36 into the second period when Blue Bennefield scored his second goal of the season to stake Adirondack to a 1-0 lead. Blumer recorded his third goal of the year less than three minutes later to tie the game. Joel Pullman and Chad Woollard earned assists on Blumer's goal. The Frostbite retook the lead on a shorthanded goal by Kevin Watters with just 1:55 left in the middle period. In the final frame, Lupandin scored to tie the game at two. Lupandin's marker, the only of the third period, was assisted by Matt Radoslovich and Evgeny Lazarev. On the season, the Mallards lead the UHL in third period goal differential with nine goals scored and just two allowed. Lupandin and Patrick Nadeau scored for the Mallards in the shootout, but it was not enough as the explosive Frostbite scored three shootout goals

Friday, November 4th-Mallards 3 at Danbury 1
An emotion filled contest featured former Mallards coach Paul Gillis behind the Danbury bench and two former Mallards (Donny Grover and Sergei Durdin) on the ice for the Trashers. The Mallards struck first on a goal by Evgeny Lazarev at 9:49 of the opening period. In the second, the Trashers evened the game on a goal by Carlyle Lewis. Less than five minutes after Lewis' goal, Mallards rookie Jesse Rycroft scored to give the Mallards the lead at 2-1. In the third period, the Mallards were outshot 12-4. Despite, the late charge by the veteran Danbury team, Mallards netminder Jason Tapp held strong before an empty net goal by Glenn Detulleo sealed the win.

Saturday, November 5th-Mallards 3 at Elmira 2
The Mallards came back from a 2-0 first period deficit to beat Elmira in the teams' first meeting of the season. Chris Chaput and Jarrett Konkle scored in the opening period to give the Jackals a 2-0 lead. With just 1:20 left in the opening period, Joel Pullman scored to begin the Mallards comeback. In the second, the Mallards outshot the Jackals 18-7 before Anthony Blumer buried the period's only goal with just 55 seconds left. The goal was Blumer's fourth of the year. In the final period, Chad Woollard scored on a 5-on-3 advantage to give the Mallards the lead for the first time and win the game.

Sunday, November 5th-Mallards 4 at Elmira 3
After a scoreless first period, the Mallards scored three times in the first 11 minutes of the second period. Andrei Lupandin and Evgeny Lazarev scored on the man advantage before Anthony Blumer added an even strength marker to give Quad City a 3-0 lead. Elmira responded with a pair of goals (scored by Mike Dombkiewicz and Jarrett Konkle) 3:02 apart in the middle stages of the second period. With the score still frozen at 3-2, Chad Woollard tallied for the team-leading seventh time this year to give the Mallards a two-goal cushion. A late goal by Elmira's Sam Paolini cut the Mallards lead to one, but the Jackals could pull no closer.

Player of the Week
Anthony Blumer is the Mallards nominee for the UHL Player of the Week. He scored in the Mallards shootout loss to Adirondack and registered a goal in each of the Mallards wins over Elmira. He also had an assist in the Mallards comeback on Saturday night vs. the Jackals.

Goalie of the Week
Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He made 72 saves while going 2-0-1 on the East Coast swing. The Kelowna, British Columbia native recorded a 1.67 goals against average and a .935 save percentage on the road trip.
