Madison Mallards News Release

MADISON, WI - The Madison Mallards face the La Crosse Loggers Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at the "Duck Pond." The game is the second of a three-game series between the two division rivals.

The Mallards will look to continue their four-game winning streak, and still trail the Loggers by 3.5 games.

Hoping to keep the streak alive is Mallards' starter Chris Lamb (Davidson). Lamb has been struggling a little as of late, losing in his last three appearances and failing to make it past the fifth inning in all three instances. In total, Lamb is 0-3 this season with a 6.30 earned run average. He has not faced La Crosse this season.

Lamb should get plenty of help from his offense, which has been the key component to the team's recent success. The league's fourth best offense is hitting .306 (50-for-163) with four home runs and 28 RBI in the last seven games.

Sunday will be a tough test for the offense however, as Loggers' All-Star Brando Tessar (Oregon) will toe the rubber. Tessar is 6-1 this season with a 2.09 ERA in eight previous starts. In 56 innings pitched, he has allowed only 42 hits and has 37 strikeouts. The Loggers are 6-2 when Tessar throws, but one of those losses came against the Mallards back on June 24. In that game, Tessar went six innings and allowed five runs on ten hits; both of which are season-highs.

The Mallards and Loggers will play once more in the series following Sunday. Monday's game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and is also the final game between the two teams this season.
