(Rapid City, SD) - Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush squared off against the Quad City Mallards. A second period three-goal outburst powered the Rush to a 6-3 win, ending Rapid City's win streak at four games. The Rush are back the road this Friday, March 1st, as they take on the Arizona Sundogs. Follow all the action at 100.3 the FOX or online at rushmoreradio.com.

Quad City wasted no time in the first period scoring the opening goal just 1:12 into the contest with a goal by former Rush player Anthony Perdicaro. Jason Dixon carried the momentum for the Mallards notching a shorthanded goal at the 11:38 mark, doubling the lead. However, Jarrett Konkle would answer just 1:28 later with a blast from the high slot that would eventually trickle past Mallards goaltender Neil Conway to cut the lead to one goal by first intermission. With an assist on the goal, reigning CHL Player of the Week, Winston Day Chief, extended his point streak to seven games.

The second period was controlled by the Mallards as they pulled away beginning with Shayne Toporowski's powerplay goal at 4:55 to reclaim the two goal advantage. Quad City tacked on two more goals by the end of the period from Darren McMillan at 6:15 and Matt Duffy at 18:20 to make it 5-1 heading into the third

Rush team captain Scott Wray would cut into the lead at 11:40, capitalizing on a fortuitous bounce off the glass for his 20th goal of the year. It marks the 12th time in the 14-year veteran's career that he has reached the plateau. The Mallards would respond when Mickey Lang converted on a penalty shot at 14:15. Despite a late goal by Jared Brown at the 15:00 mark the Rush were unable to rally, falling to the Mallards 6-3.
