
Mallards Clipped by Chinooks in Mequon

Madison, WI - June 29, 2014. The Madison Mallards (16-15) fell to the Lakeshore Chinooks (23-10) tonight by a score of 13-4, dropping the second game of their two game home and home series on the road in Mequon.
The Chinooks put on an offensive show, scoring 13 runs on 17 hits off five different Mallards pitchers.
The Mallards were led offensively by designated hitter Pete Alonso (Florida), who hit a solo home run in the fourth, his sixth of the year, to put the Mallards on the board and shortstop Michael Handel (Minnesota), who was 3-for-3 with three singles and a walk.
Chinooks designated hitter Blake Butler (College of Charleston) went 3-for-5 with a triple and two doubles to finish with 7 RBI.
First baseman Ryan Krill (Michigan State) crossed home plate on four separate occasions and was 3-for-4 with one RBI to help the Chinooks maintain their position on top the Northwoods League South Division.
Starter Rob McDonnell (Illinois) pitched two innings, giving up six runs on five hits, walking two while striking out two in the loss.
Receiving the win was Chinooks starter Joe Pavlovich (UW-Oshkosh), who tossed five innings and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out four to get his second win over the Mallards this year.
The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" tomorrow to play a split doubleheader against the La Crosse Loggers starting at 12:05 pm. The second game of the doubleheader will be played in La Crosse at 7:05 pm.
Monday is Wisconsin PBS Kids Day and fans will be able to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog. Free Clifford books are available to the first 250 kids, courtesy of Scholastic. It is also Child Care Appreciation Day.
