Mallards Begin Drive for $100,000

Moline, IL-During a press conference today at Gilda's Club in Davenport, the Quad City Mallards announced the beginning of "The Drive for $100,000", a ticket drive with the goal of raising $100,000 for Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities. Media supporters of the campaign include: Quad City Radio Group, The Dispatch/The Rock Island Argus/The Leader, WQAD - NewsChannel 8, WBQD - UPN and Mediacom.

From each season ticket sold between today and September 30th, $100 will be donated by the Mallards to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities. The team hopes to sell 1,000 season tickets under the program and raise $100,000 for the charity. All of the money raised will stay in the Quad Cities as Gilda's Club continues to provide support for those living with cancer and their families.

"The Mallards have been a part of our organization for the last year and the kids love their visits," said Claudia Robinson, Executive Director for Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities. "Under this program, we will be able to continue our work and make it even better. Everything we do is free of charge and the Mallards are making that possible."

Gilda's Club is a national organization that assists those living with cancer. Any man, woman or child with cancer, and their family members and friends, can visit Gilda's Club to build social support as they battle the disease.

The primary goal of Gilda's Club is to provide those living with cancer, and those who are in their lives, access to others who are living through the same experience. "It is imperative that our organization gives back to the community that has supported us over the past decade," said Mallards Senior Vice President Tim Taylor. "Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities is a fantastic charity that provides tremendous support for cancer patients and their families. We are pleased to help them in their work."

Mallards season tickets are on sale now. Fans that purchase tickets by September 30th will have their season ticket price locked in for as long as they continue to renew their season seat. For each season ticket sold before the September 30th deadline, the Mallards will contribute $100 to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities. The Mallards open the 2005-06 season on Friday, October 21st in Flint vs. the Generals. The 11th home opener in franchise history is slated for Saturday, October 22nd vs. the Motor City Mechanics. Keep checking qcmallards.com for updated news on all team events.
