
Mallards Add Pair with Signings of Nadeau and Tapp

Moline, IL-During a press conference today at Gilda's Club in Davenport, Quad City Mallards General Manager and Coach Brian Curran announced the signing of center Patrick Nadeau and goaltender Jason Tapp. Nadeau returns for his seventh season with the franchise. Tapp will begin his fourth professional season this fall with the Mallards.
Patrick Nadeau has played 323 games in a Mallards sweater. He ranks third on the team's All-Time Games Played List behind only Hugo Proulx (437) and Mark McFarlane (393). The Vanier, Quebec native is fourth on the team's All-Time Scoring List with 263 points as a Mallard. Nadeau was a member of the Mallards 2000-01 Colonial Cup Championship team and the 2001-02 squad that went 57-15-2 in the regular season. The 5-foot-9 forward has appeared in 438 professional games including time in the United Hockey League, ECHL and Quebec Senior Hockey League. Nadeau has 186 career goals with 236 assists for 422 points.
Last season, Nadeau scored 24 points (16 goals and eight assists) in 49 games. He ranked third on the Mallards roster in goals. In the post-season, Nadeau recorded three goals and two assists while appearing in six games.
"Patrick is a heart and soul player," said Curran. "He's one of the faces that define this organization, and we're proud to have him back."
Tapp is the second goaltender signed by the Mallards for the 2005-06 season. The 5-foot-7 netminder spent the 2004-05 season with the Missouri River Otters. He recorded seven shutouts last year, good for a share of the United Hockey League lead. The Kelowna, British Columbia native ranked seventh in the league with a 2.60 goals against average while recording a .900 save percentage. On the year, Tapp recorded 23 wins with 21 losses and three shootout losses. He also led the league's goaltenders in penalty minutes with 42.
"Jason is a very competitive player," said Curran. "I believe that this will be a breakthrough season for him."
Tapp played 33 games under Curran as a member of the 2003-04 Columbus Cottonmouths (ECHL). He went 16-8-4 with the Cottonmouths while recording a 2.40 goals against average (10th best in the ECHL) and a .913 save percentage. Tapp also tied for the league lead with five shutouts.
Since making his North American pro debut with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League in 2002-03, Tapp is 51-40-7. In 107 North American pro games, Tapp has a 2.65 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
