Mallards Announce Date for "Battle of the Bands"

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team is hosting a "Battle of the Bands" competition in conjunction with the United Hockey League to benefit VH1's Save the Music Foundation. The "Battle of the Bands" will take place during the Mallards April 1st game vs. Muskegon.
Participating bands will be competing for various prizes including the chances to travel to New York City to audition for a record label. Bands interested in competing should contact Melissa Gardner at (309) 764-7825 or mgardner@qcmallards.com.
The "Battle of the Bands" will be a part of the Mallards Fan Appreciation Day on April 1st. Other festivities scheduled include a special Mallards "Save the Music" jersey designed by a local student, a caricature artist and face painting artists. The VH1 Save the Music Foundation seeks to encourage America's public school to make instrumental music education a part of their curriculum while alerting Americans about the role that music plays in each child's education. The found has provided schools with over $34 million worth of new instruments to over 1,400 schools in 80 communities.
The Mallards return home on Friday for a showdown with Port Huron. Game time is 7:00 p.m. It's Girl Scout Night as Girl Scouts from throughout the Quad City area are invited to The MARK for just $10. Call (309) 764-7825 to make your Girl Scout Troop a part of the fun. On Saturday night, the Flags are back for another 7:00 p.m. face-off. The first 2,000 fans will receive the third installment of the Mallards trading card set from Portabella's. It's also Travis Hearn Night as 41% of ticket revenues will benefit the Travis Hearn Foundation. Tickets are available for high school students for just $6. Church groups are eligible for $10 tickets as a part of All Faiths Night. After the game, the Mallards will be a Portabella's for a post-game party.
